The 49er Club

The 49er represents a fantastic opportunity for Great Britain to increase its medal tally, having missed out on podium places at the last two games. We are the Team to ensure it does not miss out a third time. The 49er club is your chance to be part of the journey. Like other World Class Olympic athletes in the UK, we are supported by UK Sport lottery funding. This funding is performance related and reviewed every year based on results at the World Championships. While it is a massive help, it does not cover all the essential equipment costs and expenses. While it would be fantastic for a sponsor to come forward and fund everything we realise this is unlikely. We need your help to become World Class in every aspect of our sport and give us the best chance of bringing the Gold medal home in Rio 2016.

The Goal

The goal of the 49er club is to raise money in order to help us achieve our dream of an Olympic gold medal. We hope to do this whilst contributing to two incredible charities in the process. For every £1000 the 49er club makes, Team Asher Sterritt will donate 4.9% (we'll call it 5%...) to the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation and RYA Sailability. We will also pledge a further 20% of any money made over our target of £12000. If you would like more details on either of these fantastic charities you can find more information on their websites (click the desired logo at the top of this page) or by visiting their respective Facebook pages: the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation & RYA Sailability.
